Welcome back, Carter Work Project!

October 13, 2025

We recently welcomed community partners and the local media to our headquarters for a “Launch + Learn” event to show and tell others about our selection as the next affiliate host of the Carter Work Project (CWP).

In a room full of supporters, Atlanta Habitat team members Rosalyn Merrick, Candice Jordan, Brian Findley, Tia McCoy and Zach Nikonovich-Kahn, shared the history and impact of this global initiative, and they highlighted initial ideas about how CWP may unfold in our city.

Habitat for Humanity International President Jonathan Reckford also participated, sharing heartfelt reflections about his years working alongside the Carters to build homes around the world. Keep reading.

In 1988, Atlanta Habitat was the host affiliate for the global program, building 21 homes in the Edgewood neighborhood of southeast Atlanta. Next year, we’ll blitz build 24 homes in the Sylvan Hills neighborhood as part of our second master-planned community, Langston Park.

Our city has evolved dramatically through the decades – from population growth and shifting demographics to transportation and sports. At every turn, Atlanta Habitat has continued to provide pathways to affordable homeownership for individuals and families in the City of Atlanta.
