Langston Park: Building Sylvan Hills
February 27, 2026

Sylvan Hills is historic. Known as the “neighborhood in the forest,” it is defined by tree-lined streets, deep roots, and generations of stories. Like many historic communities across our city, Sylvan Hills has changed over time — and Atlanta Habitat is proud to be part of its next chapter.
In 2026, Atlanta Habitat will launch a new planned development in Sylvan Hills: Langston Park. For the first time, we will build a community intentionally designed with greater density, featuring a mix of duplexes, townhomes, and traditional single-family homes. By thoughtfully maximizing our land use, Langston Park will create homeownership opportunities for 68 families — expanding access while strengthening the fabric of the neighborhood.
But Langston Park is more than a housing development. It represents a shift in what’s possible for families who may have once believed homeownership was out of reach. It reflects a more welcoming future -- one where new residents can live, thrive, and grow in a neighborhood that continues to evolve while honoring its rich history.
Langston Park embodies a bolder vision: community building that goes beyond one home at a time. It’s about building a space where families can live near parks, schools, and opportunity. It’s a place where neighbors know one another – and a safe space where stability takes root and grows.
This is the progress we hope for right in the heart of Sylvan Hills.
24 Homes in One Week: Atlanta Shows Up
Langston Park will launch in a way that reflects the very best of our city. In May 2026, Sylvan Hills will be at the center of something truly special: The Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project.
During one historic week of service and impact, volunteers, sponsors, community leaders, celebrities and partners from across Atlanta and beyond will come together to help build 24 homes in just five days.
That kind of effort takes vision, coordination, and heart. It also represents something Atlanta does especially well -- showing up for one another. Every volunteer hour, every sponsor commitment, and every wall raised is proof that when a city comes together, meaningful change can happen.
Impact You Can See: Growing homeownership in Sylvan Hills
By the time Langston Park is complete, the impact will be lasting and measurable.
Atlanta Habitat expects homeownership in the Langston Park area to increase by approximately 10%. That means more families will be building equity instead of facing rising rents. It means more neighbors who can invest in their community, and more children who can grow up in homes where they learn, rest, and dream big.
Homeownership is about more than housing. It is about stability, opportunity, and legacy, and a sense of belonging.
Langston Park is history in the making because it reflects the best of what Atlanta can be: a city that learns from the past, builds with intention, and creates pathways for more families to thrive.
This is a community effort, and everyone has a role to play. When we build together, we don’t just transforms blocks, we help shape the future of a neighborhood and the future of our city.
