From the Frontlines: Habitat on the Hill 2026
March 9, 2026

From February 9-12, 2026, Atlanta Habitat CEO Rosalyn Merrick and Neighborhood Engagement Director Tia McCoy joined 450 Habitat leaders, homeowners, and partners from across the country in Washington, D.C. for Habitat on the Hill 2026. This is Habitat for Humanity International’s annual legislative conference.
“Being there again this year was special, timely and grounding. Habitat on the Hill reaffirmed that advocacy is core to our work — alongside building, repairing, and financing homes,” said Rosalyn. “This experience reminded me that our voices open doors to policy solutions for the housing crisis, and affirmed the power we all have as ordinary citizens to speak up, show up, and hold our lawmakers accountable.”

The Habitat delegation met with members of Congress to urge action on the policies and investments needed to address the nation’s affordable housing crisis and strengthen communities. The shared message was simple: housing stability is foundational to family well‑being, strong neighborhoods, and economic opportunity — and federal policy matters.
As part of the Georgia delegation, Rosalyn and Tia met with Sen. Jon Ossoff and Rep. Lucy McBath as well as staff members representing Sen. Raphael Warnock and Rep. Nikema Williams. These conversations were positive and productive -- our lawmakers expressed warm support for Habitat’s mission and our federal policy priorities.
