Welcome Home Village: Atlanta Habitat’s First Transitional Home Project
October 13, 2025

Atlanta Habitat for Humanity unveiled its first-ever transitional housing project—Welcome Home Village—near the campus of City of Refuge on Atlanta’s Westside. Built in just six months, this 16-bedroom, four-building assortment of homes is the result of a partnership between Atlanta Habitat, City of Refuge, and long-time supporter Peachtree Road United Methodist Church (PRUMC).
Welcome Home Village is designed to serve up to 20 women transitioning back into society after incarceration. More than just a place to live, it offers access to City of Refuge’s holistic support services, including trauma counseling, job training, and family reunification programs—creating a vital bridge to stability and independence.
Since 1989, PRUMC has helped build 55 homes and supported more than 60 Atlanta Habitat projects. Their continued commitment to housing justice played a key role in bringing Welcome Home Village to life.
After hearing from guest speakers, several women received keys to their homes. Members of Atlanta Habitat’s Construction team beamed with pride as these women cried tears of joy and gratitude.
