Home Dedications in Langston Park

Homeowners and their families cut the ribbon at a Langston Park home dedication

The 24 Carter Work Project homes were dedicated at three events

Atlanta, we did it! It's official — 24 new families now call Langston Park home.

Over three Saturdays in June and July, the porches of Langston Park became places of celebration as Atlanta Habitat homeowners stood alongside family members, friends, sponsors and volunteers for their official home dedication ceremonies. Each gathering marked the culmination of years of hard work, perseverance, and partnership. Families reflected on how far they had come and shared their excitement as they prepared for move-in day and the next chapter of their lives.

Each home is part of a historical moment created through the 40th Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project. In a remarkable display of community spirit, more than 2,500 volunteers from Atlanta and around the world gathered in Sylvan Hills to build 24 homes in just five days. They worked through summer temperatures, and even a day of pouring rain, united by former President and First Lady Carters' enduring belief that everyone deserves a home.

Langston Park's story began long before the first wall was raised. Atlanta Habitat acquired the property in 2015 and spent years engaging with Sylvan Hills residents, listening to their ideas, concerns, and aspirations for the neighborhood. Their input helped shape everything from the community's site plan to the design of the homes, ensuring that Langston Park would reflect the character and vision of the people who call the area home.

As house sponsors received commemorative hammer plaques in recognition of their support, the dedication ceremonies celebrated far more than completed homes. They honored the power of community, the realization of long-held dreams, and the beginning of new opportunities for 24 families.

Today, those front doors open to more than houses. They open to greater stability, expanded opportunities, and a foundation for building generational wealth for years to come.
