We are proud of our house designs and firmly believe that with careful planning, an affordable home can also be attractive. Ensuring our homes are attractive and interesting increases the chances that neighborhoods welcome them in their midst and raises the homeowner’s pride in his or her home. Atlanta Habitat site planners study existing houses in areas where we build in order to replicate their design elements in our homes. The goal is to create designs that are not only pleasing, but blend with existing styles. Homeowners and their neighbors are proud of the result—a beautiful setting in which to live—and all parties work hard to maintain a healthy neighborhood.
A combination of systematized building and supervised volunteer labor helps keep costs low and homes affordable. Basic elements of the home’s structure, including details like decorative columns, are mass-produced, and volunteers can then assemble them on-site. A small expenditure of time coupled with a small monetary investment, makes the community more attractive and simultaneously promotes more successful affordable housing ventures.
We accept donations of items that contribute to design variability and beauty, such as stained glass windows, gable-end decorations, landscaping materials and more. If you are interested in donating an item of this nature, please email our In-Kind Donations Consultant, or call 404-223-5180, ext. 153.
