Atlanta Habitat for Humanity is committed to working collaboratively with the neighborhoods where we build. In order to achieve our mission and to provide permanent homeownership solutions for Atlanta’s hardworking low-income families, all stakeholders in the community must embrace the homes we develop.
That is why we have developed a Community Outreach Initiative to actively seek partnerships and collaborations in the neighborhoods where we build and throughout the city. This includes communicating and partnering with community leaders, community based organizations, local politicians, local businesses, volunteer groups, neighborhood groups, city officials and residents.
If you or your community is interested in pursuing a partnership with Atlanta Habitat, please email our Director of Family Services or call 404-223-5180, ext. 168.
Partnerships with Communities
Charis Community Housing and South Atlanta Civic League - Atlanta Habitat and Charis Community Housing are nearing the conclusion of a partnership to build affordable housing in South Atlanta. After consulting with the South Atlanta Civic League, Atlanta Habitat and Charis are building these homes according to neighborhood standards. New Atlanta Habitat and Charis houses blend with the existing homes in the community. Regular community input is a central tenet of the partnership.
Pittsburgh Community Improvement Association (PCIA) - Atlanta Habitat is working closely with PCIA to develop strategies for building quality, affordable, attractive homes in target areas identified by the Pittsburgh community. As a result, we have plans to build as many as 14 homes in the neighborhood with help from a long list of funders including the Annie E. Casey Foundation, consumer advocate Clark Howard and others. It is an exciting time to be living in the Pittsburgh neighborhood!
Atlanta Housing and Neighborhood Development (AHAND) - This association of non-profit community development organizations is instrumental in educating and advocating for policies and issues that foster successful community-based affordable housing initiatives. Atlanta Habitat is an active member.
