STEP 1: Attend an application workshop To receive an invitation to our next workshop for potential applicants, you must call (404) 223-5180 ext. 100 to answer preliminary qualification questions. After the phone call, you will receive an invitation in the mail, along with a list of the documents you are REQUIRED to bring with you in order to apply. Your documents and application will be reviewed at the workshop to determine if you qualify and if your application is complete enough to proceed.
STEP 2: Habitat calculates your income and pulls a credit report
If your income and credit information meet our requirements, your application will be accepted for consideration.
STEP 3: Application components are finalized
Any outstanding documentation is collected (savings account statements, proof that bad debts have been paid or resolved, etc.). A sexual offender criminal background check is conducted. Application is passed to the Family Selection Committee.
STEP 4: Family Selection Committee home visit
Two members of the Family Selection Committee will contact you to set up a time to visit and to conduct an interview at your current residence.
STEP 5: If approved... Start Habitat partnership – attend orientation and begin working on sweat-equity hours.
