New vs. Renovation

Each year, we partner with corporations, faith-based organizations, foundations, individuals, and families to construct 50+ affordable, energy-efficient houses for and with working families who have met purchasing requirements. With families paying the full cost for the houses and all future maintenance, we’re committed to constructing quality homes in which anyone would want to live.

On occasion, a homeowner chooses to forego homeownership and return his/her house to Atlanta Habitat. We renovate the house we’ve already built to our standards by painting, landscaping, installing cabinets, or making other necessary repairs. The result is another wonderful house for a new homebuyer.

Also we sometimes acquire properties with vacant houses on them. Because we’re committed to providing the very best quality homes for our hard-working families, we demolish these houses and build to our own green standards.

The support of our sponsors and the labor of our dedicated volunteers saves our families thousands of dollars. At the same time, our homes transform lives and neighborhoods.
