Home Matters: Mortgage Relief
Since 2020 we have helped Atlanta Habitat families who have experienced Covid-related financial hardship pay their mortgage through our Home Matters Fund. This fund was made possible by the generous funders listed at the bottom of this page. We are now pleased to be able to expand the mortgage relief program.
Program Overview
Who is eligible for the program?
Atlanta Habitat homeowners or homebuyers currently experiencing one or more unforeseen crises such as:
Income impact due to loss of Job, decreased hours, benefit reduction, etc.
Health Issues or death within the household
Unexpected major expenses over $2500 (such as home repairs, medical bills, car accidents etc). If the unexpected repairs are for home repairs, the homeowner/buyer must use funds available in the maintenance account prior to relief being granted.
The impact and subsequent documentation must have occurred within 12 months of submitting a relief application.
The homeowner/buyer must be delinquent on his/her mortgage/rent, or in danger of becoming delinquent. Delinquency of utilities will also be considered as a factor.
How much mortgage relief is offered?
The maximum amount of relief allotted per household is three months per year. Relief cannot be requested more than once in a 12-month period. No household is eligible for more than 2 relief awards. Previous Covid relief is not considered.
