Volunteers often like to sign up for specific days to perform or learn specific building tasks.  Click here to download a pdf of the Task by Build Day Guideline.  Following is an outline of our typical build process:

Day 1
Clear crawlspace and paint foundation
Set floor joists
Lay floor decking
Sheath panels and run exterior walls
Run interior walls
Tie walls together, straighten and brace
Install lower porch package

Day 2
Prep and run trusses
Deck roof
Felt roof
Install sub-fascia, barge rafters and drip edge
Install windows and trim packages
Interior framing – wind bracing, deadwood, attic stairs
Set up for siding - corner boards, skirt board, drip cap and starter strip
Build side porch and ramp

Day 3
Shingle roof
Insulate walls and ceiling
Continue siding and caulking
Install underlayment in kitchen, dining room and bathroom
Build side porch and ramp

Day 4
Interior Painting
Finish siding and caulking
Exterior painting - siding, foundation and trim

Day 5
Interior painting
Exterior painting
Install baseboard, window sills and miscellaneous interior trim
Install kitchen cabinets and countertops
Begin soffit and fascia

Day 6
Interior painting
Exterior painting
Finish soffit and fascia
Install porch railings

Day 7
Install doorknobs and bathroom hardware
Clean house interior
Complete miscellaneous items
Touch up interior and exterior painting
Rake and clear lot
Landscape
