Thank you for your commitment to build a home with a qualified, working Atlanta family and Atlanta Habitat for Humanity. We rely on partnerships, with you (the sponsor), families and communities in which we build to promote long-term successful home purchase and ownership. Through dedication and enthusiasm, your efforts in the coming weeks and months will have a lasting impact on the life of a first-time homeowner and his/her family.
Preparing for your build should be a fun and rewarding process. If at any time you need assistance, please email the Senior Sponsorship Manager or Volunteer Manager.
In order to insure the best possible experience for all volunteers, Atlanta Habitat requires all volunteers to abide by the following policies. No exceptions will be made.
Age Policy – Atlanta Habitat volunteers must be at least 16 years old. This is for the safety of everyone on site. While we acknowledge that many teenagers under age 16 are responsible and mature, we must maintain this policy. Anyone on site under age 16 will be asked to leave immediately.
In addition, volunteers ages 16 and 17 must provide consent from a parent or legal guardian on the Release and Waiver Liability form.
Registration and Sign-in Policy – All volunteers must register by completing a Release and Waiver of Liability form prior to their scheduled volunteer activity. These forms allow Atlanta Habitat to collect contact information and be better prepared in the event of an emergency. As well, all volunteers must sign in on site each time they volunteer. This initiates eligibility for secondary accident insurance coverage.
Non-Smoking Policy – All work sites are smoke-free. Smoking on site is a fire hazard as well as a potential health risk to those breathing in second-hand smoke. Any volunteer who must smoke during the day must go away from the work site. Cigarette butts should be extinguished in water and then disposed of in a trash bin.
