ReStore Volunteer Opportunities

RESTORE DELIVERY VOLUNTEER

Objective
The ReStore sells new and gently used building materials and supplies and home/garden furnishings that have been donated by well-known quality manufacturers, retail stores and individuals. All of the proceeds from the ReStore support Atlanta Habitat’s mission.  By volunteering in the ReStore and contributing to its effective operation, ReStore Delivery Volunteers help Atlanta Habitat build affordable quality homes for working families. These volunteers continually refresh the ReStore’s inventory by helping to pick up donated merchandise.      

Responsibilities

  • Ride in a truck with ReStore staff to pick up items donated to the store
  • Help load and unload all of the donated items
  • Provide superior service to ReStore donors and customers
  • Serve as a good ambassador for Atlanta Habitat and the ReStore

Schedule
Donation pick-ups are generally scheduled on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.  Shifts are available on those days from 9am – 3pm.  Pick-ups are scheduled on other days as needed.

Time Commitment
We ask everyone who signs-up for a shift as a Delivery Volunteer to commit to working the entire shift.

Training and Support

  • Volunteers review the ReStore Volunteer Training Manual immediately prior to their first shift
  • Volunteers receive direction and support from ReStore staff

Qualifications

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. without accommodation
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Must be at least 16 years old

 

RESTORE LEAD VOLUNTEER

Objective
The ReStore is Atlanta Habitat's discount outlet store that sells new and gently used home improvement materials, home accessories and other building supplies that have been donated by well-known, quality manufacturers and retail stores as well as builders and individuals. The ReStore is open to the public, and its merchandise is discounted up to 75% off standard retail prices.  All net proceeds support Atlanta Habitat’s mission to build affordable homes for working families. ReStore Lead Volunteers play an integral role in the ReStore by actively greeting and helping customers, assuming responsibility for a department within the store and mentoring other volunteers. 

Responsibilities

  • Assume an active and leading role in greeting and helping customers and educating them about Atlanta Habitat
  • Take ownership of a department within the store and ensure that its fully stocked, its displays are optimized, and its items are priced and marked down according to schedule
  • Keep other volunteers engaged by helping to mentor and provide them with necessary instructions so they can complete tasks on the daily to-do list created by staff
  • Provide feedback and suggestions for improving operations to Director of  Retail Sales
  • Report customer and volunteer concerns to the ReStore Operations Coordinator

Schedule
Full (9am-4pm) and half-day shifts (9am-1pm or 12pm-4pm) are available Wednesdays through Saturdays.

Time Commitment
We ask all Lead ReStore Volunteers to commit to working an average of at least two shifts per month for a period of at least 6 months.

Training and Support

  • Prospective Lead Volunteers must first work as a Sales Support Volunteer for 3-4 shifts in order to become familiar with ReStore operations, and then be mentored by the Operations Coordinator who will determine when the volunteer is ready to be a Lead. 
  • Review the ReStore Volunteer Training Manual immediately prior to the first shift
  • Report directly to the ReStore Operations Coordinator

Qualifications

  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Positive and friendly attitude and a love for interacting with people
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Self-starter
  • Retail experience and/or a working knowledge of building materials and home accessories is helpful, but not necessary
  • Must be at least 18 years old

RESTORE LOADING DOCK VOLUNTEER

Objective
The ReStore is Atlanta Habitat's discount outlet store that sells new and gently used home improvement materials, home accessories and other building supplies that have been donated by well-known, quality manufacturers and retail stores as well as builders and individuals. The ReStore is open to the public, and its merchandise is discounted up to 75% off standard retail prices.  All net proceeds support Atlanta Habitat’s mission to build affordable homes for working families. Loading Dock Volunteers help the ReStore operate effectively by providing general support on the loading dock.

Responsibilities

  • Help customers load purchases into their vehicles
  • Unload donations
  • Clean recently donated items
  • Move merchandise from the loading dock and storage out to the sales floor
  • Organize and arrange merchandise on the sales floor
  • Provide superior customer service
  • Serve as a good ambassador for Atlanta Habitat and the ReStore

Schedule
Full (9am – 4pm) and half-day shifts (9am – 1pm or 12pm – 4pm) are available Wednesdays through Saturdays.

RESTORE SALES SUPPORT VOLUNTEER

Objective

The ReStore is open to the public, and its merchandise is discounted up to 75% off standard retail prices. All net proceeds support Atlanta Habitat’s mission to build affordable homes for working families. These volunteers help the ReStore operate effectively by providing general support on the sales floor.

Responsibilities

  • Price items
  • Stock shelves and display merchandise
  • Help customers find and select items
  • Maintain store appearance (i.e. straighten, organize and clean)
  • Provide superior customer service
  • Serve as a good ambassador for Atlanta Habitat and the ReStore

Schedule
Full (9am-4pm) and half-day shifts (9am-1pm or 12pm-4pm) are available Wednesdays through Saturdays.
