Atlanta Habitat for Humanity celebrated its 1,000th and 1,001st home builds in the Lakewood Commons neighborhood of Atlanta. On hand to help commemorate this historic event were leaders and volunteers from the community, corporate, civic and faith-based supporting organizations and friends. 

Some of the special guests who participated throughout the two weeks of events were: Former President Jimmy Carter and First Lady Rosalynn Carter; Mayor Shirley Franklin; Dennis Creech, Executive Director of Southface Energy Institute; Jonathan Reckford, CEO of Habitat for Humanity International; Melanie Platt, Senior Vice President of AGL Resources; Fred Wacker, Director and Chief Operating Officer of The Home Depot Foundation; the Perkins family (1,000th Atlanta Habitat homebuyer); and the Jackson family (1,001st Atlanta Habitat homebuyer).
