Understanding Your Mortgage – Required class after move-in. Do you understand what is included in your mortgage payment? What is involved in “closing” on your home? Atlanta Habitat’s legal department gives a detailed overview of how your mortgage is structured and outlines the legal parameters of homeownership.

Introduction to Homeownership - Required class within 60 days after move-in. What are the differences between leasing and owning a home? What should you expect in the first year? This class will answer many of the questions you encounter in the first year in your new home.

Holiday Scams - Elective class – It’s that time of year, when your focus is on cooking holiday meals, shopping for gifts and decorating your home. The shopping season makes it easy for criminals to steal not only your money but your personal information. Learn tips on how to be prudent, protect your personal information, and not fall victim to scams this holiday season.

H.O.M.E. Room I - Required class after move-in. Learn the basics of home maintenance. This class is designed to be taken during the first month of living in your new home. First-time participants receive a toilet auger. Class limited to 10 participants.

Cooking Class: Families, Feasts and Financial Freedom – Elective Class. This fun, hands-on cooking class will have you preparing a delicious Chicken Pasta meal. You will learn the benefits of dining at home, cooking healthier options, cost efficient cooking methods, and more family bonding time. Participants will sit down in groups to enjoy the prepared meal while interacting in social/game time.

H.O.M.E. Room II - Required class after move-in. Learn even more about home maintenance, how to choose a vendor when you can’t do the work, and how to access the funds held in your maintenance account. This maintenance class is designed for homebuyers at the end of their educational sequence, or as a maintenance refresher. Class limited to 7 participants.
