H.O.M.E. Room I -  Required class after move-in. Learn the basics of home maintenance. This class is designed to be taken during the first month of living in your new home. Computer Basic -  Elective class – Are you a CLOSED homeowner who is current on your mortgage and has not received a laptop/computer from Atlanta Habitat in the past five years? You are eligible to register for this class and receive a free laptop!

Container Garden Flowers -  Elective class. Would you like to learn how to grow flowers on your porch? Come out to this elective class to learn more from a master gardener. You will have a chance to practice working with soil during the class. Get ready to spring forward in style! Interior Design: Addressing your design dilemma Elective Class – Do you have a tricky area you would like help decorating in your house? Do you need help with maximizing the space in a room?  Join the fun and learn how to fix your dilemma on a budget while being resourceful and creative in using what you already have. In Pursuit of Ethics I & II Elective Youth Class - In Pursuit of Ethics (IPoE) is character and leadership development program that uses interactive video training modules that showcase real life situations in an entertaining way to create in-depth discussions of ethical issues. The program introduces students to ethics-focused conversations with their peers and helps them think about ethical dilemmas and how they may approach them for the greater good. IPoE is not just another boring speech. Its unique approach is similar to a mini-movie in which participants determine the ending. This program consists of eight modules which explore ethical situations encountered in today’s world. Students learn about positive character traits (e.g. integrity, honesty, trustworthiness, courage, accountability) that can support ethical decision-making.

Atlanta Habitat’s legal department gives a detailed overview of how your mortgage is structured and outlines the legal parameters of homeownership.

Homeowner Support Meeting #2: Atlanta Habitat’s Mission & VisionAn opportunity for homeowners to connect and engage with each other, the staff, and community partners. It is a great opportunity for new program participants, homeowners in their lease year, and closed homeowners/ ambassadors to get to know each other and share their stories.

 

Where? Atlanta Habitat Headquarters, 824 Memorial Drive SE. Atlanta, GA 30316

When? Homeowner Support Meetings occur once a quarter. The other meetings for 2018 are tentatively scheduled for 8/30 & 11/29.

Why should I attend? You will have an opportunity to hear from Atlanta Habitat’s CEO, Lisa Gordon! She will discuss the mission and vision of Atlanta Habitat and answer any questions you have.

Also, ALL attendees 9 years of age and older will receive TRIPLE SWEAT EQUITY for attending this meeting.  Dinner will be provided from 5:30 – 6:00 pm and there will be raffles. One of the raffles at the meeting will be for all homeowners who did not attend a meeting in 2017 or January 2018.  The winner can choose a $50 Home Depot item.

Navigating Google -  Elective class -  Open to adults & high school students – Would you like to learn how to navigate your way around Google? If so, come join this class to understand how to get the most out of it, whether if it’s by creating a Google Account, setting up a Gmail, or learning how to effectively use Google Maps, Google Docs, and/or Google Drive. You will receive double sweat equity for attending.
