Better than Brand New!

Atlanta Habitat’s first ReHab begins a new era of innovative development

As Atlanta Habitat grows into its expanded mission to revitalize neighborhoods, innovative development becomes more important. Recently, Voya Financial dedicated its annual National Day of Service to advance that expanded mission by joining with several other sponsor groups to complete Atlanta Habitat’s first ReHab–renovations on a house that Atlanta Habitat bought, not built. Renovations are a key initiative to support Atlanta Habitat’s mission to explore innovative development as a means of restoring neighborhoods.

From the end of March through mid-May, close to 170 volunteers completely gutted an abandoned house on Thaxton Avenue in southeast Atlanta and restored it to its former glory, upgrading it to meet the energy efficient standards of a newly built Atlanta Habitat home. ReHabs are cost effective, high quality renovations that cost homebuyers less to buy.

Voya, along with co-sponsors Sage Foundation, BNY Mellon, Invesco, McGriff, Seibels and Williams Inc, Tribridge Residential and Google, dedicated the new (again!) home of Ms. Parker.

Heartfelt thanks to all the volunteers who helped transform the home, and by extension the neighborhood!
