AmeriCorps Positions ReStore Sales Assistant 

 


 ReStore Sales Assistant
(Temporary – Part-Time)

ReStore, Atlanta Habitat’s home improvement outlet, is seeking an energetic sales professional to assist with sales during the summer. Qualified candidates will have at least three years of retail sales experience, have a “customer first” mindset, be able to operate a cash register accurately, be willing to follow all store policies and have the desire to work in a nonstandard retail environment. Retail experience with construction or building materials and/or hardware is preferred.

This position is part-time, with an expected average work week of 18 to 25 hours for a term of not more than three months from date of hire.

The ReStore supports Atlanta Habitat’s mission by raising funds for homeownership programs and creating awareness of the organization’s programs.

AmeriCorps Positions
In 2009 – 2010, Atlanta Habitat for Humanity will be participating in the AmeriCorps program for the sixth year. AmeriCorps is a national service program that engages members of all ages in direct service and capacity-building to address unmet community needs. In the past year, there were over 300 AmeriCorps members serving in Habitat affiliates throughout the US.
Beginning early September 2009, Atlanta Habitat will host six AmeriCorps members. This is a full-time position for approximately 11 months/1,700 service hours. A modest living allowance, housing assistance and benefits will be provided. At the completion of service, an education award is available. For more information, visit

AmeriCorps Assistant Houseleader (4 positions)
The AmeriCorps Assistant Houseleader will support the Houseleader in the construction of single-family, residential houses, using a labor force of volunteers and homebuyers. Construction skills are helpful, but training will be provided. Saturday duties will include safely and effectively supervising small groups on construction sites to install roof trusses, roof decking, shingles, soffit, siding, vinyl flooring and interior trim. Tuesday through Friday duties will involve hands-on construction. Must have valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Hours are Tuesdays through Saturdays, 8 am to 4:30 pm

AmeriCorps Volunteer Administrator  (1 position)
The AmeriCorps Volunteer Administrator helps recruit, train, coordinate and recognize volunteers. He/she will process individual volunteer applications on an ongoing basis, recruiting and scheduling an average of 20-25 construction volunteers a week, as well as volunteers for the warehouse, ReStore and other departments as needed. Must have valid drivers license and reliable transportation. Candidate should possess good people skills, be highly organized and detailed oriented, and should have knowledge of Access, Act, Word, Excel, Outlook and the Internet. Hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 5 pm.

AmeriCorps Family Services Assistant  (1 position)
The AmeriCorps Family Services Assistant will design a new model for Homeownersto get more involved in their neighborhoods, ncluding communication with committee members, coordination of quarterly meetings and reporting on program outcomes. Other duties include assisting with outreach events, compiling data on homeowner programs and revising program evaluations. Candidate should possess good people skills, be highly organized and detailed oriented, and should have knowledge of Access, Act, Word, Excel, Outlook and the Internet. Spanish speaking skills are preferred. Hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 5 pm.
